George V Silver Servers, Walker & Hall, Sheff 1924
Here we have a top quality George V Sterling Silver Serving Spoon & Fork Set. The set have Hanoverian pattern stems with broad round flat bowls. They could be used as salad servers or as general serving pieces for the table. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The spoon and fork are made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and date to 1924. The firm was founded by George Walker in 1845, with Henry Hall joining in 1853 to become Walker & Hall. They principally manufactured in Sheffield but had showrooms across the UK and in many other countries. They remained in business until 1963 when they were merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware Ltd.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after nearly 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
As you would expect from Walker & Hall, these are well made items in a good heavy gauge of silver. Both the spoon and fork are 20.7cm / 8.1ins long and the two together weigh in at a very substantial 150.4g / 5.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter g for 1924 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the set.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
