A rare fluted solid gold antique locket which was crafted by Henry Matthews in 1912. This delightful mourning locket is embellished with a shield cartouche framed by acanthus leaves on one side. Acanthus leaves also feature on the other side as well as forget-me-nots. The shield cartouche represents the desire of the donor to protect the recipient. Acanthus leaves symbolise immortality. The locket is in excellent condition. The original green fabric backings and frames are present.

We have included an ornate 18 inch necklace so that this locket can be worn immediately.
