Description

A serigraph in 13 colours by the artist known as ERTE.

Romain de Tirtoff ( 1882-1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, from the French pronunciation of his initials. He was a diversely talented 20th-century artist and designer who flourished in an array of fields, including fashion, jewellery, graphic arts, costume and set design for film, theatre, and opera, and interior decor.

This picture is entitled The Dream Voyage and was first created as a maquette from the cover of Harper's Bazaar in 1921. From this 13 screens were cut and then proofs were pulled.

The proofs were corrected and approved by the artist after which the entire edition was pulled at Chicago Serigraph Workshop.
Each print in the edition was then inspected and signed by hand in pencil by the artist in New York City in 1977

On the reverse are the original labels and certificate of authenticity from Merril Chase Galleries.
