Carved Oak & Adzed Fruit Bowl by G. P. Bird
Description
An absolutely stunning carved and adzed English oak fruit bowl by G. P. Bird. The very best oak has been used. Completely carved out of one piece of English oak. The very best carving I have seen on a fruit bowl. Signed on the underside.G. P. Bird was a Master Carpenter and the Father of Basil Bird who made the wooden casket containing Prince Charles Crown for his investiture as Prince of Wales in 1969. The crown was made by Louis Osman Architect and Goldsmith. Please see photo of life and work of Louis Osman.
Dating to the 1930s with a lovely rich original colour and patina. 14" diameter x 3 1/2" deep. Book included as reference and provenance.
