Jackfield Pottery

Jackfield Pottery, a ceramics factory, was founded by Richard Thursfield in 1713. It was named after Jackfield, a town in Shropshire. He and his sons made a type of earthenware pottery known for its lustrous black lead glaze similar to Japanese black lacquer wares. There best examples were made between 1760-1772.
