York Provincial Silver Teaspoon, 1829
This York assayed fiddle pattern teaspoon was made by James Barber, George Cattle & William North. The spoon's finial has been monogrammed.
The spoon carries the hallmarks for James, George and William, the lion rampant for sterling silver, the George IV head duty mark and the date mark for 1829.
There is no town assay mark, but this is not unusual for the York assay office who would only mark pieces "of importance" or "of significance".
The spoon is in reasonable condition. There is the normal age related surface scratching, and a few very minor dinks to the bowl.
The spoon measures 13.6 cm (5.4") long, and weighs 16g.
All measurements are approximate.
Please see photos as these form an important part of the description.
Selling price includes free UK postage. For other countries, please contact us for a quote.
