Vintage Silver Handled Grapefruit Knife, 1979
This is a good quality Vintage Sterling Silver Handled Grapefruit Knife in the Queen's Pattern. The silver handle is decorated in the Queen's Pattern with its distinctive rosette in the middle, whilst the stainless steel blade has the smooth curve unique to grapefruit knives that enables a grapefruit half to be easily segmented.
The knife is made in Sheffield by Harrison Brothers and dates to 1979. Harrison Brothers were active in both London and Sheffield from around 1960 to the early 2000s and are best known for their silver handled cutlery and serving pieces.
Condition is extremely good, indeed it appears to have had very little if any use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The grapefruit knife is 20cm / 7.9ins long and weighs 37g / 1.3oz.
The hallmarks on the handle are well struck and clear to read. One side has a full set showing the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the rose assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter E for 1979 and the HB makers' mark for Harrison Brothers. The other side has the lion passant and the rose assay mark.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
