This compact is suitable for use for use as a handbag mirror.
A mid-century enamel Melissa compact mirror. This is such a lovely vintage handbag mirror. The lid is decorated with deep crimson roses and forget-me-nots. The whole compact is in very good condition. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The inner lid and base are decorated in designs we see on Melissa brand vanities - all gilt gleaming and protected by a layer of lacquer applied at the point of manufacture and so this compact will never need to be cleaned. The powder well is protected by a plastic insert. The mirror bezel is signed " MELISSA MADE IN ENGLAND ". This compact comes with a protective pouch shown on image one. The mirror has a couple of tiny subtle age spots. As you can see on image two these in no way detract from the beauty of this vintage compact mirror.
This vintage compact measures 7 cm & weighs 75.5 grams.
