Vintage 1930s 13" English Mohair Teddy Bear
This lovely vintage teddy bear has no maker's marks or labels, but has the characteristics of an English bear. He has mohair fur, fabric pads, glass eyes (which are not the same), and a black stitched nose and mouth. He is soft stuffed with a pronounced hard stuffed muzzle and has the remains of a squeaker inside him that is no longer operative. We believe him to date from the 1920s/30s. He is wearing a navy blue ribbon around his neck that is not original.
Condition: Overall in good condition, with some playwear consistent with age. He is overall dusty and faded, and his mohair fur is thinned with some balding patches. He has some signs of restoration and re-stitching, including to his nose. His eyes do not match, the clear one is probably a replacement and the orange colour has degraded in the other. His joints are a little loose and he is overall a little squashed. As is mentioned above the squeaker inside his chest is no longer operative.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
33cm high. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
