A magnificent antique Victorian embossed brass coal scuttle of helmet form dating from circa 1882. With rising foliate cast brass handle with turned and ebonised centre, the scuttle with hinged lid embossed with flowers, leaves and roundels in Adams style. The back section with foliate embossed panel and original integral shovel all raised on a circular base.

The front of the lid is stamped with the British Registry Diamond, with a date of 15 August 1882 for the date of its patented design registration. This indicates the design was registered in 1882 and this coal scuttle was made from that period onwards.

Old solder mend to the lid, slightly loose to one corner. Other wear and marks commensurate with age.
