Description:
Here is a superb quality late 20th Century reproduction of a Tudor style dark brown solid carved super king size (5ft wide) half tester bed, showing exceptional quality and craftsmanship, in excellent condition.

This is a superb quality bed finished in a light nut-brown oak colour, having been handmade from a combination of predominantly solid oak & other hardwoods. The bed is in the style of the English Tudor period, which dates from between 1500 to 1530. This bed shows exceptional craftsmanship. All panels are detachable for ease of transport, access into a house and assembly. This bed fits a standard UK king mattress (5ft” wide x 6ft 6” long).

The headboard can be dismantled into panels (if necessary) to allow easy access up narrow staircases or through doorways. The headboard is constructed of several floral carved flor panels, predominantly sunflowers interspersed with guilloche, acanthus leaf and punch work rail sections. At the top are two large carved panels depicting flower heads on sunken matted ground, with three larger sunflower carved panels in the middle, and four smaller floral carved panels below.

The bed displays a stunning inset panel half tester roof, secured by two shaped supports, incorporating guilloche floral carved sections, with corbels carved in the shape of angels. The roof also boasts a detailed carved canopy, which incorporates formal strap work arabesque rails defined by a sunken matted ground, interspersed by shaped corbels, with two further large carved corbels at the corners of the canopy. Please note, the half tester roof must be attached to the wall for additional support (we can provide brackets).

The side rails and footboard are decorated with formal strapwork arabesque rails, defined by a sunken matted ground, in between inset panels. The footboard is raised on turned feet.

This bed is accentuated with style, romance and tradition. The impression created by this bed will without doubt be a memorable one as they are genuinely unique and recreate the ultimate in luxury of a bygone age.

This bed is not to be confused with other four-poster beds of lesser quality in the market place today. This bed is hand made with hand carved panels, unlike other machine carved beds. The design, build quality and superstructure (thickness of panels) are of superior and exceptional quality. It is an extremely heavy bed!
