Silver Vesta Match Safe Chester 1913
In absolutely fabulous condition, this high quality double-hinged vesta match safe case is superb! Fully Hallmarked, assayed in a number of places for Chester 1913 makers mark for Henry Wells, respected silversmith and jeweller of Shrewsbury. It bears the 3rd Dragoon Guards and the initials A.B.
It is pristine I doubt it to have seen the light of day since 1913. Marked Fusees to one end in red enamel and Matches to the other in blue. The hinges are all in perfect order, complete with a hinge for haging to a watch chain or chatelaine.
Measuring c. 4.6 cm x 5.6cm, it has a superb weight at c.70g. The fascinating history of the 3rd Dragoon Guards, together with the immaculate condition of this unique piece will appeal to collectors the world over. A very similar piece is featured in Miller's Collectors Guide (pg 27) with a guide price of £650-£700.
