The calabash gourd is an extremely vigorous climbing vine growing in warm climates. The fruits are picked when immature and cooked like squashes. The mature fruit forms a hard wooden shell and can be used as a drinking gourd. Apparently this was the purpose for which it was first cultivated.
Approximately 95mm tall and 71mm at its widest.
The silver collar does show its age with some dents.
