Scottish Bond dated 1530
Scottish Bond of 1530 in the Reign of King James V of
Scotland and Henry VIII of England.
The Bond to Thomas Preston dated 26th April 1530. 27 Lines of Latin, handwritten onto Paper with Fragment of Wax Seal of the Preston Family.
The Preston Family acquired the Title Dominie of Craigmiller, by purchasing Craigmiller Castle, Edinburgh, which was to remain in the Preston family for over 300 years.
It was at Craigmiller Castle that Mary Queen of Scots took up residence following her return from France and where a group of her advisors met to discuss how they would murder Lord Darnley, her husband. The pact became known as the Craigmiller Bond. Due to personal reasons 'Wayside Mews and Collectables' will be unable to fulfil any orders for the immediate future, this will include the period up to St Valentines Day 2023. Please check back to their Antiques Atlas home page for updates on when they will return to full service. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to be back soon.
