Pair of Antique Victorian Oak Hall Chairs
This lovely pair of hall chairs look to date from the late nineteenth century and are in the aesthetic style. They have solid oak frames with lovely carved back panels. They have drop-in seat pads with later needlepoint upholstery, and are supported on turned legs at the front and square slightly swept legs at the back. They both have maker's plaques undeneath for Carnegie & Co. of Newcastle Street.
Condition: Overall this attractive pair of chairs are in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and they are overall a little faded. There are some signs of old restoration and repair and some shrinkage splitting and cracking around the seats. One of the chairs has some wood loss to the front of one of the front feet. One back rail is a little loose. Otherwise they are solid and usuable but do have some slight movement in the joints.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 92cm high, 43cm wide, 41cm deep (to maximums), 45cm high to seat. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
