Extremely rare Charles 1st period Memento Mori brass sundial showing a skull on the left side above a verse, large scythe to the right and sunburst in the centre. The verse reads – As The Long Hours Do Pafs Away, So Doth The Life Of Man Decay. Along the bottom edge – 1630 Long Liffe Ye King Charles. A wonderful piece of history, well weathered in parts but most detail remains. Unfortunately the gnomon is missing, it would look fabulous mounted on a piece of old oak. From an old farm garden in Canterbury England. If fully complete this item would fetch considerably more.10 inches in diameter.
