Gorham Chantilly Large Silver Serving Spoon
This is a top quality late 19th or early 20th century American Sterling Silver Large Serving Spoon in the Chantilly pattern. The spoon has the initial M engraved in Gothic style at the top of the stem.
The spoon is made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company in Providence, RI and dates to between 1895, when the Chantilly pattern was launched and around 1915. One of the most famous names in American silver, Gorham was founded by Jabez Gorham in 1831 and by the end of the nineteenth century was attracting some of the most accomplished designers and silversmiths in the world.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the surface wear that you would expect after over 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The serving spoon is 26cm / 10.2ins long and weighs in at a substantial 98.6g / 3.5oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The marks on the underside of the stem are easy to read. They show PAT. 1895, the launch date of the Chantilly pattern, the lion, anchor and Gothic G pseudo hallmarks that are the Gorham trademark of this period and the word STERLING.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoon.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
