Georgian Silver Filigree Jockey Cap Caddy Spoon
Delicate and rare filigree silver caddy spoon in the shape of a jockey’s cap. The cap is a woven basket weave effect with central disc with engraved initials. The peak has a beautiful scroll and leaf filigree design. Unmarked as is usual but tested, dating from c.1800, probably made in Birmingham by Samuel Pemberton. Please see plate 96 in “Caddy Spoons – An Illustrated Guide” by John Norrie for a similar example.
It measures 5.5cm (2 1/8”) long, 4.5cm (1 3/4”) wide and 2cm (3/4”) high and weighs 13g/0.4ozt. Condition is excellent.
