A handsome antique Georgian mahogany chair in a design influenced by Thomas Chippendale. Beautiful crisp carving, excellent colour, the best quality mahogany, dating from the late 18th century. There is an old mend to the back splat, which is solid. The chair frame is solid and sturdy. With dipped seat rail and chamfered legs united by cross stretchers, the drop in seat has been newly reupholstered. Quite low, so would make wonderful bedroom or dressing table chair. Unusually it is stamped with initials “AF” to the back of the seat rail perhaps the initials of the owner for whom this chair was first made.
