Georgian Brass Bound Writing Box
An early 19th century Georgian brass bound writing box or box desk.
The desk lid has a support to hold it open so that it can be used as a lectern, a rest bar is stored inside the lid and can slot in place.
The interior has a baize covered writing surface, a pair of plated screw top inkwells and a pen rack.
The two parts of the writing surface hinge open to reveal compartments to store documents.
The box has a secret compartment under the inkwells and pen rack covered by a sprung panel.
The base of the box has a side opening drawer that is oak lined and locked in place with a brass bar.
The box is in good condition. (Circa 1820)
