George V Silver Napkin Ring, John Rose, 1933
This is an attractively decorated George V Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The napkin ring was made by John Rose and assayed in Birmingham in 1933. John Rose was a very successful silversmith who founded his company around 1900, which then stayed in business up until the mid-1970s. They specialised in personal items, mostly for gentlemen and also made some fine pieces of small tableware such as napkin rings and place name holders.
There is a nicely engraved ivy leaf design running right around the body of the napkin ring, which broadens into a blank cartouche at the front.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and only minimal wear, such as you would expect after nearly 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin ring is 4.2cm in diameter and 2cm deep. It weighs 10.7g.
The hallmarks, which are in the middle of the leaf pattern, are a little difficult to make out but clear to decipher with a magnifier. They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "J" for 1933 and the J R makers' mark for John Rose.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs before making a purchase.
