Gents boxed 1962 Baume wrist watch
A gents boxed 1962 Baume wrist watch.
Baume were a Swiss company, based in Les Bois in the Jura Mountains. They had a London branch in Hatton Garden. Arthur Baume was a prominent figure in Europe… as well as a member of the Royal Geographical Society, he also became president of the British Horological Institute. He was decorated by both the French President and the King of Belgium. As well as their own watches, Baume & Company were the importer of various watches, including Longines, to the UK and all of the British Commonwealth.
The watch has a good quality Swiss 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. In the photos, there are a couple of empty screw holes showing… the movement is in fact held in by a retainer so these screws are not required.
The watch itself measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold plated with a stainless steel case back and it is all in lovely condition.
The lens is in good condition too.
The signed dial is in its original finish and has a stylish sunburst effect. It is in good condition with original hands and a subsidiary seconds dial.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch has its original guarantee from when the watch was purchased from James Walker in 1962, and also the original James Walker presentation box (some marking to the inside). ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE.
