Edwardian Silver Napkin Ring, W.H. Sparrow, 1903
This is an elegant Edwardian Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The circular ring has gadrooned rims top and bottom and an attractive scrolling foliage design engraved around the body of the ring to either side of the blank cartouche. This would be ideal as a gift.
The napkin ring is made in Birmingham by silversmith W.H. Sparrow and dates to 1903. William Henry Sparrow registered his first mark at the Birmingham assay office in January 1903 and remained in business up until the early 1920s. He primarily produced small, personal items of good quality.
Condition is very good with just one tiny ding, which is really only visible from the inside of the ring, plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin ring is 4.4cm / 1.7ins in diameter, 1.5cm / 0.6ins deep and weighs 12.8g / 0.45oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the back of the ring, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter d for 1903 and the W.H.S makers' mark for William Henry Sparrow.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
