Edwardian Silver Cream Jug, T. Wooley, 1905
Here we have a charming round Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug. The jug is of bulbous form on a round rim base with a broad lip and a scroll handle. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The cream jug is made in Birmingham by T. Wooley and dates to 1905. There isn't much information available about T. Wooley, not even his or her first name but he/she was active in Birmingham between 1887 and around 1920.
Condition is good with just a couple of miniscule dings and a slight flattening at one spot on the body plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 9cm / 3.5ins from lip to handle, 6cm / 2.4ins across the top rim and 6.3cm / 2.5ins high. It weighs in at a very respectable 47.4g / 1.7oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the body are a little rubbed but still clear and easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter f for 1905 and the T.W makers' mark for T. Wooley.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
