Edwardian Silver Cream Jug, J.E. Wilmot, 1903
Here we have a stylish Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug with repousse decoration around the whole body. The jug is basically an oval shape with a bulbous decorated body, a flat base and a broad lip.
The cream jug is made in Birmingham by John Edward Wilmot and dates to 1903. Wilmot was active in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter between the late 1880s and the start of the First World War.
Condition is very good, with only the minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 11.5cm / 4.5ins from lip to handle, 6cm / 2.4ins across and stands 7.7cm / 3ins high. It weighs a substantial 93.5g / 3.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the body are somewhat rubbed but can still be read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter d for 1903 and the J W in conjoined circles makers' mark for John Edward Wilmot.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cream jug.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
