Early 20th C. Silver Plate Asparagus Tongs
This is a good quality pair of Early 20th Century Silver Plate Asparagus Tongs in the Albany Pattern. The tongs are of the broad bladed type with a pierced upper blade which has a small downward lip to hold the asparagus securely. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
There is no makers' mark of any kind but the tongs are English and date to around 1900 to 1930, or possibly a little earlier. The Albany pattern was introduced in the late 1880s and was at the peak of its popularity in the Edwardian era.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and no significant plate loss, only the superficial surface wear that you would expect after around 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The tongs are 20.7cm / 8.1ins long and weigh in at 127.3g / 4.5oz.
