Derek Slater, trained at Acorn Industries with Alan “Acornman” Grainger and later worked at Crayke, nr Easingwold. Derek Slater initially used a carved Fish trade mark before changing to a Lizard after joining Martin Dutton who was Robert "Mouseman" Thompson trained, working together in Yorkshire during the 1960’s. He works solely in oak. and this piece is one of several available on this site, originally commissioned for prestigious barristers' chambers.
It is a large cabinet of fielded panel construction featuring 2 leaded glass doors opening to 2 shelves on the left and one on the right, and a central panel door, giving access to a robe and wig hanging compartment which extends into the base, and 3 paneled doors below, later converted to shelving. The left and right hand side feature rails formerly used for suspension files, and the central compartment has space for a single row of suspension files below the robe compartment.
