An antique Chinese porcelain wine goblet.

Dating to the late 17th - early 18th century (circa 1690 - 1710). Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty.

The thrown and moulded body is beautifully decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blue. The quality of the decoration is very fine, executed in the pencil painting style. It depicts large exotic flowers, floral sprays and insects in flight.

The bell shaped bowl, with its fluted design, knopped stem and rounded foot is based on a European wine glass design from the period.

Jingdezhen production and made for export to Europe.

With extensive faults and old repairs, as shown, but an exquisite piece nonetheless.
