Chinese clobbered bottle shaped vase - Kangxi Chinese porcelain bottle vase %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Beautiful elegant Chinese porcelain bottle shaped vase dating from the Kangxi period(1680-1710). Underglaze blue decoration provided in China and later 'clobbered' in London or Amsterdam, at least 30 years later when new glaze enamels became fashionable. The overglaze enamels include a brilliant lime green spotted ground with 4 red based panels containing a single flower. Other enamels include famille rose pink, white and small amounts of yellow - very new enamels, the height of fashion. Two very well painted 5-claw dragons surround the panels, covering the original underglaze blue dragons. Fine underglaze blue scrolling shows through the lime ground. 4 character overglaze red mark on base - faux Chinese mark produced in Europe. Condition: Very good. Three very small nibbles to inside of rim, but not noticeable from exterior.
Size: height 15cm
