Cast Iron Steel Fireback Grate Basket With Dragons
Antique large forged and cast iron fire back, grate and basket with dragons.
This is a lovely quality item which could make a real focal point.
Recently repainted with matt black high temperature paint.
Full of age and charm. Solid, strong and heavy.
We are unsure of the exact age of this item, but believe that it has late 19th or early 20th Century origins.
Maximum overall dimensions 68cmW x 38cmD x 53cmH.
Basket dimensions (internal) 45cmW x 23cmD. The grate is 17cm above the hearth..
Historic knocks, marks and wear. Note that this item is very heavy, possibly around 100Kg. The iron wheels beneath no longer go round and the fire brick at the back is old and cracked, but this does not affect its use in any way and totally to be expected. There is a small heat crack in the iron back but this is only minor and the piece is structurally very strong.
