Circa 1870. An exhibition quality mid Victorian burr walnut and inlaid oval breakfast table. The top with mirror matched fine burr walnut veneers and Tumbridge style inlay towards the border, further string inlay boxwood and satinwood and broad banding up to the fore edge. Simple moulded edge which is beaded beneath. The table rests on a walnut block with a brass clasp for holding the table in position. The whole piece rests on four turned and tapering legs with a central boss with a large carved finial, finishing on four elegant squat cabriole legs with acanthus leaves on the facing, reeded on the sides and ending with a curled toe resting on a white porcelain castor. The table has excellent colour and patination.
