Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta glass vase, late 1950s. Flattened ovoid body on a colourless cylindrical foot. Very deep purple in colour with controlled airtrap lines cased in clear crystal to create a sommerso type vase. Ground pontil mark to base. Etched signature Kosta LH 1326. The vase measures 18.5 cm in height, 9 cm in width and 7 cm in depth.
This vase is in very good overall condition commensurate with age. No chips or cracks to the glass. Very minor surface signs of age. Inclusions to the glass from original. Please see further images on our website as these form an important part of the description.

Kosta glasbruk was founded in 1741 and is one of the world’s oldest operating glassworks. The name Kosta was derived using the first letters from the names of the two founders of the glassworks (Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein). Over time Kosta became Sweden´s leading glassworks, producing a wide range of items from basic glassware to luxury art glass pieces. Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) worked at Kosta from 1950 to 1973 as artist director. Items signed LH were Lindstrand designs produced as part of a range but were not mass produced.
