Antique Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch
Antique Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch.
The watch has a Swiss 10-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Thomas Russell & Son, a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and antique clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has general light surface marks.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is in good condition, just a handful of small indentations and general light surface marks, nothing serious at all.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens over a signed dial with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. The dial has three hairline cracks running from the centre but they are faint.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
