This is an attractive and quirky antique Gendje rug from the South Caucasus. The carpet dates from the early 20th century and has a very lively colour palette. This soft wool rug has a rich rust field with three Lesghi stars enclosed by stylised serrated leaf borders in indigo. Although there are minor losses to both ends of this, the pile is good and it is a stylish antique rug with bags of charm. It is a good size too, measuring 238 cms by 126 cms.
