Antique Cast Iron Wood Burner Stove No 1 Bontesse
A magnificent antique cast Iron coal burner stove, this is the Model 1 by Bontesse. It was made in England and dates from around 1890-1910.
Bontesse was the forerunner to Artesse, Francesse and the company now known as Esse, which still make high quality stoves. Believed to be the first British stove capable of burning anthracite and coke, the Bontesse is based on French design and was the first ESSE stove.
This is of amazing quality and is extremely heavy! All the parts seem to be here, this looks like it was very recently re-conditioned, it is in excellent condition for its age.
