Ancient Artefact Sandstone Head
Sandstone heads like this specimen are believed to have been ‘God Figures’ of the Celtic peoples who inhabited Yorkshire during the Roman occupation and even earlier. They are exceptionally rare, ancient artefacts.
The head measures 175mm tall, with a maximum width of 160mm front to back measurement 165mm there is a cup-type depression on the top of the head which suggests it may have held incense.
