Admiral Fitzroy's Barometer
Circa 1900, unusual stylish and interesting oak cased barometer by Admiral Fitzroy.
Fitzroy was a pioneering meteorologist and established what is now known as the Met Office
Admiral Robert Fitzroy devised this form of barometer to help people working at sea or in coastal villages to anticipate bad weather.
The solid oak case has a moulded top and base, and a glazed front. There should be two adjustment wheels on the case to move internal pointers, but these are missing. Inside features a barometer, thermometer (broken) and a gauge for measuring the atmosphere, with various charts explaining the different functions.
A very attractive item with faults which could be easily remedied.
PRICE - £270
Shipping costs – I will deliver free within a 100 mile radius of Brighouse. Buyers outside this radius must collect, or arrange their own courier.
Overseas locations are not possible for this item.
We do not accept returns.
