A Large Antique Cast Iron Convex Roundel
A large antique cast iron convex roundel depicting a Bacchanalian rural scene of celebration. An angel holds a halo above the head of a women greeting a kneeling man and attended by Mercury and Cupid. The couple are surrounded by a throng with carousing figures, cherubs, horseback riders and mythological beings in the sky. A pair of caryatids bearing baskets of fruit upon their heads frame the scene.
French possibly late 19th century.
