Wimbledon-Furniture

Wimbledon-Furniture is delighted to offer for sale this stunning and very rare early 19th century solid Bronze with marble base Grand Tour model of the Arc De Triomph by the world-renown French company of LeBlanc Freres

This piece is fully stamped, three times inside the lid and once inside the actual body of the statue along with the serial number of 798

This piece is substantially larger than normal grand Tour pieces, most are small desk ornaments, this comfortably fills a side table on its own

As you can see it has a removable top, one would assume you would keep a small sewing kit or perhaps hid little valuable trinkets inside

For those of you that are unaware the “Grand Tour” was something educated young people did in the 18th and 19th century to learn and further educate on other cultures, they would pick up small trinkets as memory’s of the journey which would sit in pride of place in their library or study as conversation pieces when friends and relatives would visit, they basically proved you were well educated, well travelled and a person of culture

This piece is in sublime condition, the marble base has some chips in it but they is to be expected, it is well over 150 years old and must weigh 10-15kgs
