18th century primitive Welsh lambing chair
Dating to circa 1780 a superb looking traditional lambing chair.
Displaying it’s typical period, rope seat support and an inset hair pad with later inset cushion which of course could be recovered to suit.
The chair is in good condition with lovely patination & very comfortable. It is effectively an early ‘wing chair’ often referred to as a lambing chair where they were used within agriculture requirements to tend for young lambs, the chair ‘wings' offering some comfort from the draughty buildings of the time.
It has undeniably had repairs over the course of time but remains a beautiful rare piece full of character & charm. Constructed of elm and oak displaying minor signs of age related wear.
Dimensions:
Height: 110 cm
Width: 68 cm
Depth: 65 cm
