An exceptional large and impressive fully hallmarked gold Edwardian heart shaped locket which is suspended from a stunning 18 inch belcher chain necklace. The hinge and catch work perfectly.

This antique was assayed (tested for gold purity) at Birmingham Assay Office in 1910.

The most elaborate and deeply symbolic engravings grace the exterior.

These include a heart shaped cartouche, acanthus leaves, forget-me-not flowers and ivy leaves.

Acanthus leaves represent the desire for eternal life.

Feelings of deep love and respect are convey by the forget-me-not flower.

Ivy has symbolised fidelity, deep friendship and wedded bliss for many generations.

The interior case is lined with watered silk. Both frames and clear portrait protectors are present.

This locket is an ideal keepsake / photo locket or pendant necklace.
