A very pleasing oil on canvas by the Irish 'romantic' painter William Mulready. A painter who studied at the R.A. Schools and has work in most of the best collections. These include the Tate, the V and A, the National Portrait gallery etc etc. Born in County Clare in 1786 he spent much of his life in Bayswater London and was well known for many paintings of children and youthful romance, much of this from observations of life day to day. This very pleasing little oil is of three boys trying a cigarette. It is in what is almost certainly the original frame and is in original condition. The subject matter being typical of his work. This example is initialled and dated and will almost certainly be an investment as well as a very pleasing addition to any collection.

An oil painting on board depicting a pretty Cornish harbour view, signed by the artist. Gilbert Gee is known as having resided at 45 Worcester Lane, Four Oaks, Birmingham during the middle years of the 20th century. He is known to have exhibited three works at The Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, circa 1940. Gee’s paintings often feature fishing villages in Devon and Cornwall and his use of light and colour echoes the work of the St Ives School. He also painted landscape scenes around his native Staffordshire. This bright and vibrant work is presented recently framed and in excellent condition.

A large oil painting depicting two children and a collie dog on the sea shore the girl with a shrimping net and the boy with a gill net round his shoulders the background showing a choppy sea and a small gaff rigged sailing vessel signed and dated in the bottom left hand corner. William watson was a pupil of Edwin landseer. Original and very ornate frame water gilded.

Ambrose Dated 1922 Ref SN374 This delightful and skilfully constructed landscape oil painting from the English artist P.Ambrose, portrays a shepherd leading his flock along a country road on Cookham Hill, Surrey, flanked by silver birch trees. The painting is well composed with rich autumnal colours in the foreground and a beautiful long distance view of the Surrey Countryside. The painting would sit handsomely in an office, study or library or even a sitting room. It has a real ‘country house’ feel. The artists signature appears on the bottom left of the picture and the title and date are pencilled on one of the stretchers to the reverse. Size Canvas 30 inches (76 cm) wide by 20 inches (51 cm) high. Size of the frame 39 inches (99cm) wide by 29 inches (74cm) high.

Early Morning on the Flats by Claude Marks, oil on canvas, circa 1900. Signed. Claude Marks was an accomplished painter in oils who is recorded as living in London in 1899 and 1915, and in Paris in 1908. He exhibited five works at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, eight works at the London Salon, one at the Royal Academy and two at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
