Offered for sale is fine quality set of eight Victorian balloon back dining chairs in exceptionally good condition. The chairs are a lovely rich brown mellow mahogany / walnut colour. The set of eight mahogany balloon back chairs have a shaped back rail above a carved and pierced centre splat with newly reupholstered overstuffed seats on carved cabriole supports with scroll feet. The balloon back chairs are in excellent showroom condition having been cleaned, revived and waxed along with the seats reupholstered in a gold John Lewis fabric. Whilst listed as mahogany I think they are walnut but will go equally well with either mahogany or walnut. They have a makers brass plate to the underside - GM & HJ Story, Cabinet Makers, London. We specialise in antique dining suites trading from both Talbot House Antiques and a West London Antique Centre with our workshop in Berkshire. Just in from a local house these eight very slightly harlequin crown top balloon back chairs. They are in reasonable condition but have been used and were sold by us to the client something over 20 years ago. They are quite useable but could really do with repolishing, jointing and reupholstery which would cost in the region of £100 per chair. The legs on these have a good flowing line and are at the earlier end of the balloon back era, the later ones having a slightly more square section to the turning. An oval ended windout table is also available from the same house as are something in the region of 20 others that could go with these chairs.
