A highly important carved white statuary and Gallo Sienna chimneypiece in the Palladian style, Attributable to john boson or Sir Henry Cheere Or in collaboration. George II, circa 1735-40. The frieze by a large tablet carved with figures of putti and satyr with silenus’s drunken ass which they are plying with a wine bottle. To either side carved drapery husk sways set on a sienna background. The white statuary blockings carved with rosettes above terminal figures headed by a boy’s head, each turned slightly differently and headed with ionic capitals which support the blockings. The tapering bodies detached from the sienna backgrounds and carved with a wealth of architectural detail, fish scale, acanthus leaves and volutes and supported on stepped blocked feet also elaborately carved. The ingrounds carved with egg and dart which is repeated in the breakfront shelf which is also richly carved with ornament.
