Wittnauer 2000 Time Machine calendar watch
Wittnauer “2000” Time Machine perpetual calendar wrist watch.
The “2000” model was in production from 1970 until 1975, when it was replaced by the “2002”.
The watch has a Japanese 17-jewel automatic movement, signed Wittnauer Watch Co, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 42.5mm wide excluding the winding crown and 45mm high. The case is stainless steel, there is some light surface marking but nothing too serious. The screw-on case back is signed on the inside Wittnauer Watch Co, Japan and the outside has the Wittnauer 2000 logo. There are some scratches where the back has been removed in the past but not too deep.
The lens has light marking but barely noticeable to the naked eye.
The signed dial is in lovely condition with original hands, centre seconds sweep and day date display.
To use the watch, you align a year with a month in the lower part of the dial (use the bold months for Jan and Feb on a leap year) and the days will align with the dates in the top part of the dial. The years go from 1971 until 2015.
The date at 3 o’clock is changed by way of the top pusher. The day is initially set by turning the hands forwards.
The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet, signed with the Wittnauer W, which currently fits a 17.5cm wrist although there is capacity on the clasp to make it 1cm larger.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
