Winifred P. Burtt Watercolour Dahlias In A Vase
We could only find two people in the UK in the last hundred years with the initials W. P. Burtt, and one of them was an older man who was an engineer, so we think it is most likely that Winifred Petchell Burtt was the artist who painted this still life. She was born on 31st October, 1896 and died on 18th August, 1976 at Steep Hill Cottage, Barns Lane, Wellingore, Lincoln. We found a mention of her being involved with art and science in an almanac.
The painting was framed in a very unsuitable and damaged swept gilt frame, so it has been double mounted in two tone acid-free mountboard to complement and newly reframed in a 1" mottled and gilded wooden frame with a pale green centre line, that tones well with the painting. The watercolour will be supplied with all new brass fittings, brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
Image size: 15" x 12 1/2" - 38.1cm x 31.75cm
Frame size: 22 3/4" x 20 1/4" - 57.8cm x 51.45cm
Medium: Watercolours on paper
Condition: Very good. There is no foxing and the colours are bright and true.
