Vintage 21" English Jointed Mohair Teddy Bear
This lovely teddy bear has no maker's marks or labels, but has the characteristics of a early English bear. He was possibly made by Pedigree. He has mohair fur, velvet-type pads, and a black stitched nose and mouth. He has unsual eyes that we believe to be wooden with plastic / Bakalite pupils, although please note that we are not sure of this. He is fully jointed and mainly hard stuffed. He has the remains of a growler inside his tummy that is no longer operative. We believe him to date from the 1940s.
Condition: Overall in fair condition, with some quite heavy playwear consistent with age. He is overall grubby and faded, and his mohair fur is significantly worn with large bald patches, particularly to his tummy. There is some holing to his pads. He has some signs of restoration and restitching, including to his tummy seam and around his pads. His nose and mouth stitching may have been replaced. His eyes have some wear. As is mentioned above the growler inside his tummy is no longer operative.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
54cm high. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
