Victorian Silver Salt Spoon, Henry Wilkinson, 1882
Here we have a good quality Victorian Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the Onslow pattern. This is a very distinctive pattern with its scroll top and usually a shell shaped bowl as in this case.
The salt spoon is made in Sheffield by Henry Wilkinson & Co and dates to 1882. Henry Wilkinson & Co started up around 1830 and produced a very wide range of good quality items. They remained in business until 1892 when they were bought by Walker & Hall.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the minimal surface wear that has to be expected after nearly 140 years of service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salt spoon is 6.6cm / 2.6ins long and weighs in at 6.1g / 0.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter P for 1882, the Queen Victoria duty mark and the HW & Co makers' mark for Henry Wilkinson & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
