This is a large Victorian Ceramic Teapot decorated in the classic willow pattern which has been hand coloured. The teapot is broadly rectangular with scalloped corners. The lid has the classic deep design of 19th century teapots.

The teapot is made in Hanley, Staffordshire by Ashworth Brothers and dates to around the 1880s. Ashworth Brothers was founded in 1860 when George Ashworth bought out his former partner Francis Morley. They remained in business under that name until the late 1960s when it was renamed Mason's Ironstone.

Condition is very good with no chips or cracks and just one very small firing flaw on the right hand shoulder. There is some crazing to the inside of the pot and on the underside of the base. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The teapot stands 18cm / 7.1ins high, 11.8cm / 4.6ins across the body and 24.5cm / 9.6ins from handle to spout. It weighs 1,087g / 38.3oz.

The base is stamped Ashworth Bros, Hanley around a crown, the mark they introduced around 1880 with the word England being added from 1891 onwards.
