This is a Chinese carved Soapstone Figurine of the Chinese God of Longevity Shou or Shou Lao. He is know by his tall domed forehead and the peach that he carries, which is a symbol of longevity. Such figures are often given to elderly people as birthday gifts, to wish them long life.

In Chinese legend, Shou was in his mother's womb for ten years and was already an old man when delivered.

Height: 7 1/2" - 19cm

Width and Depth: 2 3/8" - 6cm

Material: Soapstone

Condition: Very good.
